The good news is I like this a lot in broad terms. That said, I don't truly understand what the 'thing' is in the middle of the composition... is it a tree, or is it a building? I think you need to demonstrate via production art and orthographs that you understand this structurally and also materially (how is it fabricated if this was indeed a 'real world' object). Also - while obviously there's some diffuse and gestural about your buildings, I do want to see you digging into the architectural detailing - of the windows for example - right now their 'images of windows' - but when it comes to readying this for modelling, you're going to want to understand how those windows are recessed, and what's happening around them in terms of construction etc. I don't just want these to be Maya blocks with flat paintings on them - I want to seem some detailing - simple it can be, but the nuancing of your models is going to be key to their success. Finally, I wonder if ultimately, you shouldn't drop the POV down a little lower for a more towering sensibility - a sense of these structures having an architectural scale - and this will mean dialling up the size/height of the drawn buildings in the matte painting accordingly.
Hey Phil i've thought about what you have said and i think i know where to go from here, the structure in the centre is supposed to be a statue in a town sqaure like area.
I agree about the POV, i wondered about doing that after making it but i wanted to give you something to see as i was late.
The windows... still trouble me, in the third orthograph the windows were simple triangles maybe one or two on an entire building but when i made the concept piece i went with more traditional styled windows but "broken" in shape.

Can you give me an opinion on each one?
