03/10/16 3D Modelling class

Today in class we were looking into texturing using UV mapping and Adobe Illustrator, though of course you can use many other programs to achieve the same outcome.


First we created a polygonal cube on Maya, then we took the UV map and placed it into Adobe Illustrator as a template, from there we all had to design our own cube using the uv map as a template, this was my design:


It did not have to stay withing the confines of the UV map as whatever stuck out would be, for the lack of a better phrase "chopped off" and go unused, so i didn't care too much about keeping it clean.


After that we went into Maya and edited the properties of the cube, we assigned a new material to the cube, "Blinn" is a material that is good for making plastic-like objects due to it's reflective properties so we added that and then modified the attributes and applied the texture, this is how it came out:
